Functional Order: Te-Ni-Se-Fi
Judging Functional Axis:
Extroverted Thinking (Te) / Introverted Feeling (Fi)
Yara is an efficient leader. She both sees herself as, and is, a more competent decision-maker than Theon. She feels herself a worthy successor to their father for a good reason – she is tactically-minded, logical, rational, and doesn’t allow personal emotions to get in the way of her conclusions. She sets up and enacts a ‘rescue plan’ to help her brother, then is incredulous at how ‘feeble’ and changed he is; she sees their rescue mission as a ‘waste of time’ owing to his ‘cowardice’ in refusing to escape with her. When Daenarys comes for the throne, Yara sees an easy alliance. She takes steps to make it happen, while fighting for the right to lead her people against her ambitious, reckless uncle. Despite her brutal decision-making, Yara actually does have central values – she values her family. She feels honor-bound to treat her crew right and to choose the right battles for them to fight. She feels a kinship with Dany, due to their shared zeal for leadership. Yara never complains about her feelings, and never acknowledges them, beyond punching her brother in the face when he abandons ship and leaves her in Euron’s control. (But he came back for her, so it’s all good.)
Perceiving Functional Axis:
Introverted Intuition (Ni) / Extroverted Sensing (Se)
She is already planning for the future, when word arrives that Theon has taken Winterfell. She sees the instant potential in Dany’s arrival, and wants to create an alliance with her against Cersei to take the Iron Throne. She recognizes the severe change in Theon and dismisses him from any future plans. She also shows tons of tert-Se behaviors – recklessness, sexual dalliances and experiences, vast enjoyment of anything sensual or pleasurable, and scorn for those who won’t “get their hands dirty and fight.” Her rescue of Theon is pure Te/Se, motivated by a desire to get in, grab him, and get out, taking an enormous risk in the process. She can think fast and react on her feet.
Enneagram: 8w7 self-preservation
Yara embodies all the qualities of the 8 – tough, no-nonsense, zero tolerance for wimps, aggressive, domineering, and confrontational. She can take a lot of pain without complaining about it. She also seeks out pleasure, wanting to indulge all her sexual urges in a never-ending hunger for “more.” Her 7 wing makes her hedonistic and allows her anger to flow freely, influencing her to pursue what she wants without hesitation. She is blunt and objective.
